Lady musicians join voices for special shows!
As innovators, creators, or entrepreneurs, we are always looking to grow and expand ourselves. Lorie Judd did not necessarily set out to do just that but turns out, it is working for her as a musician. Judd had the idea to reach out to two of her favorite female artists and see if they would be interested in creating some music together. Lily Bethke and Leann Huddleston are no strangers to the music world, each play and write music with others but they were excited about Judd’s idea. And Lady L was born.
The trio started practicing in late December and set up some gigs. “The music world is typically a bit male dominated, so it is nice to be able to have three ladies doing this together.” Huddleston said. While each of the ladies made sure to give props to their male band mates, this special project has proven to grow each of them as artists. Huddleston added, “Doing a three part harmony is a lot different.”
Bethke has been a long time member of The Smoky Nights where she has written music and released multiple albums but has recently stepped out on her own. With so many changes in her full time career as a musician, she definitely has had the opportunity to learn a lot. Bethke is looking forward to all the different genres that they will be performing. All three ladies are looking forward to connecting with their own audiences as well as possibly finding new followers that the others will bring.
While there are no plans to leave their current bands or the music that they are able to create there, there will be chances for Lady L to step out on the stage now and then. Be sure to make plans to hear what they have put together on Apr 21, 2023 at Red Silo. And at the end of the day, maybe take a lesson from the ladies and try something new, you never know what make come from it!
